avid Arathoon is an avid genealogist. His ancestors and their stories are a constant focus and woven into his paintings and titles. For instance the painting, " Flowers for the Justicia " is a tribute to an ancestor's ship; prison hulk anchored on the Thames. He has met many new cousins and dedicated researchers from around the world and has learned a lot about his family's place in the history of world events. A Family Tree with over 40,000 ancestors and some portraits has taken 30 years to assemble, and is still an ongoing project. Family names that are of interest include; Arathoon, Malcolm, Glover, Lucas, Chater, Seth, Manuk, Campbell, Bligh, Acheson, Johnston, Crozier, Hannay, Stewart, Bruce, Axtel, Pascoe, Taylor, Hamilton, Gordon, Douglas, Fraser, Carr, and a growing list of others. David Arathoon is glad to exchange information with other genealogists, especially with those interested in British peerage; early Scots on Jamaica 1650 - 1850 ; or Armenian "Merchant Princes" living in India and Iran 1500 - 1950. Below is an "Ancestral Collage ", with portraits and photos of a few of his direct family members.
